English Name =  Deadly Nightshade

Guiding Symptoms.     This medicine acts upon nervous system, producing active obstruction, angry excitement, misrepresented special senses, twitching, convulsion and pains. It has a striking action on the vascular system, skin and glands. This medicine always associated with red skin, flushed face, hot and glaring eyes. Aching carotids, energized mental state, hyperesthesia of all senses, hallucination, restless sleep, convulsive movements, dehydration of mouth and throat with hate to water, neuralgic pains that come and go suddenly. Heat, redness, hurting and burning. This is also a great remedy of children like Chamomilla. Epileptic spasms followed by unsettled stomach and vomiting. Scarlet and prophylactic fever, 30^th potency is best for it. Symptom of airsickness along with exophthalmic goitre. Also used as a preventive remedy. No thirst found. It stands for cruel of attack and suddenness in beginning.

Mind Symptoms. Patient acutely alive and distraught by a flood of one-sided visual impressions and unbelievable illusions. Hallucinations, sees giant things, repulsive faces. Confusion by seing frightful images, mad,  strikes, desire to getaway. He lives in his own world, engaged by specters and hallucination and oblivious to surrounding facts. A host of visual figment of the imagination crowd about him while the retina is insensible to see actual objects. Acute condition of all senses. Unconsciousness. Reluctant to talk.

Fever Symptoms.  Feet cold like ice or snow. Apparent blood vessels. A high enthusiastic state with proportional deficiency of toxemia. Perspiration dry on head. Less thirst with fever. Aflame, overpowering, blistering fever.

Skin Symptoms. Indurations after irritation. Dry and hot, inflamed, responsive and scarlet skin. Outbreak like scarlatina, abruptly dispersal. Erythema and abscess on face. Suppurative injury. Alternate redness and whiteness of the skin. Glands distended, gentle and red. Acne rosacea exists.

Eyes Symptoms. Diplopia, look sideways, spasms of lids. Feels as if eyes were half closed. Burning deep in eyes on lying down. Pupils enlarged. Eyes feel swollen and overhanging, gazing, brilliant, photophobia, assassination in eyes. Visual illusions, burning. Eyelids swollen. Fundus overcrowded.

    

Head Symptoms. Pain especially in the forehead and occiput. Headache from concealed catarrhal flow. Sudden objection. Vertigo, with tendency to fall backwards or left side. Palpitation rumbling in head with strenuous breathing. Pain worse from jar, lying down, light, noise, and in afternoon, better by semi-erect posture and pressure. Patient rolls side by side. Boring of head in pillow and drawn backward. Regular dissatisfaction. Headache worse in right side. Ill effects of cold.

Stomach Symptoms. Disorderly vomiting. Like to drink cold water. Less appetite. Disinclined to milk and meat. Intermittent pain in epigastrium region. Pain runs around spine. Shudder of stomach. Irregular hiccough. Fear of drinking.

Respiratory Symptoms.  Painful larynx, patients feels that there is a foreign body in the larynx. Barking like and whooping cough with pain in stomach before attack of cough. Irritate, short and dry cough which worse during night. Larynx feels stinging. Respiration subjugated and quick. Complaining at every breath. Cheyne-Stokes respiration (compare with Opium in this condition). Painless roughness. Cough with pain in left hip. Darns in chest when coughing with pressure, piping like voice.

Face Symptoms. Facial neuralgia with jerking muscles and flushed face. Red, bluish, hot, enlarged, immaculate, bursting motion of face muscles. Inflammation of lips especially the upper one.

Abdomen Symptoms. Cutting pain in abdomen, suture in left side of abdomen, when coughing or sneezing. Highly sensitiveness to touch, blanket, etc (compare with Lachesis in this condition). Distended and hot abdomen. Transverse colon extend beyond. Affectionate, enlarged. Pain as if grabed by someone.

Throat Symptoms. Hypertrophy of mucous covering. Esophagus feels dry and slender. Paroxysm in throat. Tendency to gulp down. Dry like distant, angry looking obstruction, red, worse on right side. Tonsils enlarged, throat feels slight. Impression of a lump. Rubing feeling.

Female Symptoms. Hemorrhages smelling bad and hot flow of blood. Reduced lochia. Perceptive forcing downwards, feels that all the internal organs would project at genitals. Mastitis pain, excruciating, redness of breasts and nipples, strip spread out from nipple. Aridness and heat of vagina. Passed out around tenderloin. Augmented, bright red, early and copious menses. Bleeding hot. Hurtful pain from hip to hip. Menses and lochia very unpleasant and hot. Breasts feel weighty and red. Breast tumors.

    

Male Symptoms. Reduced desire to sex. Testicles hard and swollen. Prostatic fluid flows. Night-time sweat of genitals.

    

Heart Symptoms. Violent palpitation, reverberating in head, with labored breathing. Palpitation from least exertion. Throbbing all through body. Dicrotism. Heart seemed too large. Rapid but weakened pulse.

 

Modalities. Worse from noise, draft, touch, jar and in the after noon. Better while  semi-erect body.

    

Relationship.

          i.   Antidoted by:- Aconite, Coffea and Opium.
          ii.  Compare with:- Calcarea Phos.    

 

Dosage. 30^th  potency and higher. In acute cases repeatedly dosage of low potency give better result.
