English Name = White Hellebore

Guiding Symptoms.     Large amount of gagging and vomiting is the first guiding symptom for the use of this remedy. Distressesness after operation and cold sweat on temples, face colored pale yellow, quick and weak pulse. Coprophagia brutal desire which changes at once into quietness patient wants to be left alone. Freezing sweat on the forehead.  Extreme aridity of mucous exterior. Nausea and spasm in the outer organs.

Mind Symptoms.  Patient drifting here and there without any reason. Wish for cutting and tearing things. sits in an abnormal way and does not think about anything. Crying and weeping during night time. Passion of thrillness, scream and weeps. Hallucination and pain in the body. Depressed, state of trance and mania present. Patient imagine that he has a bad luck. 

Head Symptoms.  Patient feels that there is a bump of ice on his vertex. Chilly sweat on temples. Contracted facial appearance. Thinks that his neck is weak and can’t support the head. Headache, with nausea and vomiting.

Female Symptoms. Copious and cruel menses. Desire for sex following by menses. Weakness feels while doing physical work. Copious and cruel menses. Dis-appearance of menses due to coldness. 

Eyes Symptoms.  Signs and symptoms of lachrymation and eyes become red. Dark rings around the eyes. Eyelids dried out and feel heavy. Gazing with no lustre.

Mouth Symptoms. Saliva tastes salt like. Dried up, even after drinking water. Tongue become yellow colored and cold like peppermint. Toothache exists. The effected teeth feel heavy.

Heart Symptoms.  Irregular action of heart in weak people with some hepatic obstacles. Dr J. S Mitchell says “Veratrum Album is one of the most excellent heart stimulants in Homeo drugs.” Pulse become unbalanced and weak. Tremor with nervousness and swift perceptible respiration.

Respiratory Symptoms.  Dry cough, itching in throat and face become blue colored. Clattering in trunk. Bronchial tubes filled with mucus and patient can’t cough easily. Persistent bronchitis in old people. Cough aggravate in warm room (compare with Brtonia in this condition). Noisy and barking like cough  which worsens in temperate room and from drinking cold water. Urine escape while coughing. Croaky and frail voice.

Stomach Symptoms. Regular hiccough.  Reluctant to humid food. Gastric tetchiness and vomiting of food items. Abundant vomiting and nausea which is provoked by drinking and movement. Desire for cold water but is vomited at once due to gulping down. Torment in hollow portion of stomach. Weakness after vomiting. Desire to eat fruit and cold things.

Face Symptoms.  Nose become long and sharp. Slashing in cheeks, forehead and in eyes. Pale-blue colored, distorted and cold face. Facial appearance pinched. Nose and face become chilled.

Abdomen Symptoms.   Abdomen can’t bears pressing, inflamed and awful abdominal pain. Pain in abdomen after stool. Stomach and abdomen remain cold. Dipping and blank sensation. Spasmodic and tied abdomen. feeling of hernia (compare with Nux vomica in this condition).

Modalities. Symptoms worsen during night, in wet / cold weather and betters from walk and heat.

Comparison. Arsenicum Album and Cuprum met.

Dosage. 30C and 200C Potencies. In some cases like diarrhea 1M potency gives quick relief.
